Before you publish to the workshop...
I've been playing COH for ages and using worldbuilder for just as long. What I don't get is people that publish without an overhead map preview or minimap. "I don't know how you say?" Well, look no further my CoH workshop friend, below is a quick walkthrough on how to make your map not join the host of grey 'no preview' boxes that take up about 50% of the workshop.

Just a few examples of the sad grey boxes. See in the link below:

Step 1:
Make the map overheads. You can export them out of world builder or use the existing mapname_mm.tga file. All you need is Paint.net or Photoshop. Put in the start locations and player numbers and save them.
I have a 3 minute video walkthrough right here.

Don't have photoshop? Here is a quick screenshot of how to save .tga files using the free applicaiton Paint.net:

Step 2:
You need to package all the files into one .SGA file so it can be uploaded to the workshop. Sounds terrifying? It isn't. You download corsix mod studio and follow the instructions on this 2 minute video:
https://youtu.be/rrwhKO3xzaw

Step 3: Go into CoH and publish it to the workshop.

This might take an extra 15-30 minutes, depending on how pretty you make your overhead maps.

Thanks for the guides and assistance that I needed to get started publishing my maps the steam workshop. Your guides move a little quick but I finally got it after watching a few times.

how do i update changes to a particular map without deleting old file? I've tried to click on the publish button in game, on a map that has previously been published, so that I could upload the new file with the updates. The game asks me if i want to replace the current workshop file with my local file so I click on yes....then nothing happens. Do you know a way around this, or am I doing something wrong??

As far as i knew, there was no way to update an existing file. I've always just deleted and uploaded a new one.

From your description, you found a way. It might just take a while, like uploading to the workshop does normally. I usually leave it, press publish a few times, refresh. Eventually it works. Maybe replacing it requires you to do the same thing? I'm not really sure.

Usually playing it with ppl you trust before uploading is the best way to make sure you don't need to re-upload. They/you usually find the bugs as you play.

You're quite right Peeedaah. It has to become a rule endorsed by moderators. No image of the map, no publishing. I'v'e downloaded tons of map just inspired by the name just to discover that are not very good...

Moderators? I don't think they exist. I've never downloaded a map without a preview. I want to know what I'm getting. Even a simple screenshot would be better than nothing. Or maybe a description. Apparently that's too much to ask though.
