Question about outward-facing double steam locomotives.
I remember seeing some photos, and also a consist like this on the Port Road route, where two Black 5's with snow ploughs were joined by their tenders. How did it work? were both locomotives under steam? Were there any specific difficulties coming from this?

Hello, steam engines 'in steam' can be coupled together anyway you like in the real world, as long as they both match couplings type and brake pipe work for operation required.
Depending on direction, one leading engine driver has control of the brake and both drivers apply power as required.
Best.
