If you go up to 10000 the whole game gets a lot more interesting. With the new beta updates performance is better, so maybe 15000 might be possible on some high end systems. The game is very CPU intensive so a high end CPU and DRAM would enable better performance, such as an I7-8700K with overclocked DDR4.
I've found that when playing with big live radiuses, as long as lag isn't to bad, the game feels very much alive!
