You want large (singleplayer) atlas grids on single PC? I just relased early code of RIDAG
Not sure if this is the right location to announce it, but I just released source code of a tool to run a large atlas grid on a single pc. It's for sure not perfect and requires some skill. If you're capable of setting up a dedicated server on linux you most likely will be able to try it.
So if you're a small group of ppl or even a singleplayer who wants to explore a large Atlas grid, this might be what you're looking for!
