Quality of Life changes (Discussion)
So I love this game. Its style/atmosphere are awesome. That being said, there needs to be some quality of life updates/patches/mods to really make this game shine.

For example, the task management system is horrible! Something more Rimworld style with assigning/prioritizing tasks is desperately needed to be more effective.

Also can we talk about the AI? I can't tell you how many times I have had a hunter kill an animal 50 miles from camp, then head back to camp to get a sledge... AND THEN he goes back and puts 2 items on the sledge and heads home leaving everything else lying there.

Also, the interface for dealing with animals is bare-bones. I have a continual problem of (1) not being able to find the majority of my animals outside of winter and (2) not being able to easily cycle through the animals by species or sex to cull the 30 extra males I don't need to make room for all the new births and resource producing animals.

Another idea is for the "hunting area". Instead of marking prey that enter the circle and continue to task them to be hunted no matter how far away they roam, hunters should travel to that area and hunt prey that is present within that circle. There also needs to be the ability to choose prey or at least tell your people they can hunt larger prey if there are enough hunters present. I hate having to micro manage 4 hunters to take down a bull anytime I want them to kill something other than an Ibex or Donkey.

These are just a couple of examples of minor tweaks/mods that would seriously project this game to new heights.

What are all y'alls ideas for quality of life improvements?

Yeah. It's a great game. I think for me the animal husbandry becomes a bit of a problem. I have to spend most of my time killing goats.

Maybe the devs could add a butcher shop where you can make settings for when and how to cull the heard. Add the ability to have a max amount of goats, per se, and if new goats are born, the oldest ones are slaughtered. Shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Yeah but as far as I can tell they cull pretty randomly. I've had them cull newborns or once even cull half my females and leave a bunch of older males.

It is incorrect. They always slaughter the older animals first.

As for the imbalance between males and females: males and females are born in proportional numbers (1: 2 or 2: 3), the seller also sells proportionally, but it is the player who chooses which wild animals (males or females) he will tame. So if you neglect you can end up playing with a herd of males.

The game needs paths for making people walk faster and helping plan layouts.

-- The task manager (key 7) should be more detailed and more practical. And it is above all the heart of the game :
1- Select (to cancel them) all identical tasks at once (and not one by one like today).
2- Put and remove priorities on work tasks (without going to the scene).
These options would make it easier and faster to organize current urgent work tasks.

-- The problem of the detailed location of animals is the same as that of the detailed location of "vehicles". A key on the keyboard to simply go from one animal to another would already be good.

-- There should be an option for hunting areas :
1- Hunting : the system would work as it does today.
2- Trapping : only young animals of certain species would be trapped (a dead animal next to a trap), with less meat. And why not, this would allow integrating also small animals (hare, fox) without representing them alive.
Hunters would move according to the chosen option, to go hunting a detected animal, or to look for a trapped animal.
