They plan to release a single player/small server map made by the author of crystal isle (ark map)

i could hunt for the answer but do you know an estimated date for this map?

On the official iso discord. The map is finished i think they are waiting for Grapeshot to release it

own dedicated must be! Ark was fine with possibilities to play a offline world for single player to test many mods and for basebuilding-concepts or own ideas. nobody can play with a local network on a offline world for maybe 4 Gamer at home. thats little bit frustrated because you need for own password server these slots of nitrado (NOOO!!!!) or must online with to much overloaded isle. i´m for single/player offline world with local broadband.

You can bet the map will be mostly water, probably the same size as a regular region, but with more islands. The regions are pretty big, so I think a map of that size would be big enough for single play/small hosted servers.

Ummm you can host your own server....as for it needing the internet when I was working with mine to try and get it to work at one point I could see it on my lan but not the net so took awhile to get it hosted for outside the lan
