It irritates me that my fleet is incapable of flying in formation. If I run into to something and it throws me off course, well it's my own fault for not paying attention. But being constantly thrown off course because my fleet keeps crashing in to me?
I have so few complaints about this game.
No HOTAS/ joystick support - being my next largest complaint - can be overcome by playing.
This, however, cannot be overcome with practice or playing time and I do not understand the purpose of the erratic flight of the fleet. There is no tactical or strategic reason for them to fly in such a way in a non combat situation. In fact, it makes them appear completely incompetent. I would immediately terminate the contract of any pilot under my employment who slammed in to my ship... or decided EVERYTIME I went to move to fly right across my flight path.
Fleet security would NOT be handled in this manner if that is the purpose. I would assume the rest of my fleet also is equipped with radar and would learn to fly watching for radar contacts rather than visual contacts. I could think of ways to optimize security that would not involve flying around like a swarm of gnats bumping into things.
How about fleet training added to research to reduce/ stop such erratic behavior in the future? I mean, come on. Every time I get a new ship, some idiot pilot comes along scuffs my paint job, dents my fenders and flies away with not a word like nothing ever happened.
