Blueprint placement problem (HELP)

I'm new to this game only been playing for a few days so still getting used to everything, I recently found that you could obtain blueprints that people have amazingly made, however when I got to place them when playing in the sandbox most of them come up saying Terrain modification failed. Is there any way to fix this and can someone please educate me on what it means. Any help appreciated

The have to be far enough from other habitats, buildings, walkways etc. Its very annoying. What I have been doing that has seamed to work for me is a few things.

1: If the blue print im wanting to use uses a null barrier, i place it very far away in the zoo, change the null barrier to be a regular barrier, re-save the blueprint, and then use the undo button until that habitat is gone and no money lost.
2: if placing next to another habitat, i delete the barrier on the side of the habitat that im trying to place it next to and then replace the barrier after i place the blueprint.

its a bit of work but has been helping for me.
