Hello my fellow climbers! I made something for you all. It's a pretty massive level, and hopefully a good challenge for you more skilled climbers. It's tough by design, and will likely be very frusturating for anyone who doesn't have patience. I built in multiple routes, some easy and more time consuming, others not so much. I didn't want this to be one of those levels you could just bypass with a few skilled jumps. Hopefully I didn't go overboard with it, but I've had great time playing it myself, and hopefully you'll enjoy it too!

I'm really shocked at how much I've enjoyed my time in the editor making this. I think I've put more hours into Climbey's level editor than any other Vive title. With your feedback, I really look forward to improving this level, and making many more for the community.

ShadowBrain, thanks dude. You've given me such a fun experience thus far!

Please let me know what you think of the level, and feel free to give it some votes or comments if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks guys!

PS: I'd love to know your thoughts on the level, ShadowBrain!

That is a really well done level Ryker! That must have taken a decent amount of time to put together. I like all the false pathways and the use of ice throughout. Aesthetically it is really pleasing; it's much more polished than a lot of the other levels. My only gripe is that there are too many pieces and it bogs down my frame rate. I just went through my levels and tried to clean out a bunch of stuff but I don't know what you would take out of yours. Well done dude, I really liked it.

Thank you so much for the feedback, Matt! I'm really relieved to hear that you liked it! Thanks for letting me know about the slowdowns. I'll go through in the next couple of days and make optimizations. I'm wondering if it'd be less demanding to use fewer, but larger surfaces to cover the same area (maybe it's the number of individual items that affects performance, or the size of the area in general...?). Since I pretty much made up the layout as I went (while learning the editor), I wasn't very efficient. It'd be rad to have some sort of resource bar that visibly depletes as the level grows in complexity, and becomes more demanding.

I've got a couple questions for ya, for when you might have a minute...
1. Do you happen to remember which specific sections you experienced performance issues (or was it perhaps an issue across the entire level)?
2. What GPU are you running? (I ask because I have a 1080, and if it's a matter of graphical horsepower I it might not be as apparent to me, as it would be to players with lower spec'd GPUs. ...hmmmm my wife has a 980 in her rig, and I should probably be testing these levels out on her system before uploading them.)
3. Are there any sections that you felt were more frusturating than fun? (of course some parts are obviously meant to be a little frusturating.)

I hope that in the future there might be systems in place to accommodate different game modes. Objectives, multiple flags, sequential flags, etc. I'd love to make this sort of a scavenger hunt type of level! There's a pumpkin patch nearby where I live, and they have a pretty cool corn maze where you have to find a bunch of items hidden throughout, and it's a total blast going through there with a bunch of people frantically running around. I'd love to be able to replicate that experience in Climbey!

Thanks again for checking it out, and for the feedback. I really appreciate it, man!
I think performance wise it's probably a mix of size and number of items, that would be an interesting test to run though.
So questions in order:
1. Any time there was a bunch of objects in view, I would start to get frame rate issues.

2. I'm running 2 980's

3. I can't remember off the top of my head but I think for the most part the level of frustration wasn't off the charts at any one point. Navigating the maze sections was probably the least stressful if I had to pick anything out.

I think game modes would be a cool thing, like you set a time limit for the level or in between certain stages. Or have locked areas and the player has to find a key to access it. There's tons of different ways to go with this game.
Yeah definitely going to have gamemodes at some point- still addressing issues and adding other new things that take priority though!

Of course. Mearly an observation, not a demand. Most definitely not telling you what to do, my friend :)
Great job almost gave up but got it in 29 min :steamhappy:
