Resource point allocation for custom maps
I'm wondering about how many resource points to use in a map I'm creating.

Searching online, the only info I've found is in a mod map comment:

I'm making a 3v3 map, so I had a look at the official Relic maps of this size and counted the resources.

While Ammo and Fuel come in Low, Medium and High varieties, Manpower is only displayed on the map as "Strategic Points", with no information given as to their power/strength. In World Builder, there is no "Strategic Point" object to place, only Manpower points of Low, Medium and High varieties. So, unless I'm missing something, this information is lost/unavailable to the player.

I can't find the official maps in the game files, so I can't open them in World Builder to take a closer look.

So here are the Ammo, Fuel and "Strategic Points" (Manpower) totals in the official game maps. Ammo and Fuel values are the total provided by all the resource points, while "Strategic Points" are the number of locations found on the map, since the strength of each point is not displayed.

Drekplaats: +60 Ammo / +40 Fuel / 10 "Strategic Points"
Hedgerow Siege: +90 Ammo / +30 Fuel / 15 "Strategic Points"
Hill 331: +75 Ammo / +40 Fuel / 12 "Strategic Points"
Montherme: +65 Ammo / +30 Fuel / 6 "Strategic Points"
Refinery: +50 Ammo / +40 Fuel / 8 "Strategic Points"
Seine River Docks: +51 Ammo / +25 Fuel / 12 "Strategic Points"
The Scheldt: +62 Ammo / +30 Fuel / 0 "Strategic Points"
Villiers-Bocage: +96 Ammo / +40 Fuel / 4 "Strategic Points"

The numbers vary quite a lot. It does look as though the ratio of Ammo to Fuel averages at around 2:1. "Strategic Points" (Manpower) is a bit odd, since the number of locations ranges from 0 to 15.

Anyone got any advice about resource allocation?

I made a quick test map to find out more about resource points. I placed low/medium/high versions of Ammo, Fuel and Manpower to see what resources they provided.

Some conclusions:

- Low/Medium/High versions of Ammo and Fuel provide +5, +10 and +16 of each resource respectively

- All types of resource points - Ammo, Fuel, Manpower - provide +3 Manpower, irrespective of strength.

- Low/medium/high versions of Manpower points all provide exactly the same yield, so they are all the same.

- All Manpower resource points, as well as Low Ammo and Fuel points provide +3 Population Cap. Medium Ammo and Fuel points (but not medium Manpower points) provide +5 Population Cap, while High Ammo and Fuel points (but not high Manpower points) provide +7 Population Cap

So all Manpower points - low/medium/high - provide the same bonuses. Maybe the original intention was to have different strength Manpower points, like with Fuel and Ammo, which is why they are in the World Builder, but the developers eventually decided to only make Ammo and Fuel points have different strengths.

I've gone through the official 3x3 maps again with this new information, and recounted resource totals:

Drekplaats: +60 Ammo / +40 Fuel / +72 Manpower / +84 Pop Cap
Hedgerow Siege: +90 Ammo / +30 Fuel / +99 Manpower / +111 Pop Cap
Hill 331: +75 Ammo / +40 Fuel / +93 Manpower / +99 Pop Cap
Montherme: +65 Ammo / +30 Fuel / +75 Manpower / +75 Pop Cap
Refinery: +50 Ammo / +40 Fuel / +72 Manpower / +76 Pop Cap
Seine River Docks: +51 Ammo / +25 Fuel / +69 Manpower / +81 Pop Cap
The Scheldt: +62 Ammo / +30 Fuel / +24 Manpower / +44 Pop Cap
Villers-Bocage: +96 Ammo / +40 Fuel / +69 Manpower / +85 Pop Cap

This is a good resource. Thanks for taking the time to research.

Re: your original question.
I usually place low points close to the players and medium points towards the middle of the map. I rarely use high, but when i do they r usually at a pivotal point in the map.

I usually place slightly more munition than fuel or exactly the same, depending on the map.
