Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) for free!
I just recently found Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) for free. The site has MSTS, official MSTS updates and dlc listed for free download. The downloads are virus free (you can scan them if you don't believe me).

Here's the link: LINK REMOVED

I tested it on my windows 10 pc and it works great. Unfortunately it dosen't support wide screens.

ok, im pretty sure this is legal because msts was released back in 2001 and microsoft is no longer supporting or updating it so this can be classified as abandonware.

Failure to sell and/or support an intelctual property doesn't invalidate copyright. The copyrights protecting OLD software for things like the Apple ][, Atari 2600 and Nintendo Entertainment System are going to remain fully enforcable for multiple decades. A few of the extremely old motion pictures from back in the silent picture era are old enough to have escaaped eclusive rights extension legeslation prompted by media company lobbists.

Basically what bobbi says.

"Abandonware" isn't a category of software (FOSS/share/license etc), just a description of something that has no commercial value, and obviously is available via people breaching their copyright agreement by sharing it.

For MSTS, there is the OpenRails sim (go look it up), which does a very good job of reproducing MSTS functionality to the point that you can use 3rd party MSTS routes and rolling stock without owning the (unavaliable) MSTS itself, and which could with time and support actually render MSTS routes better than MSTS itself could.
