Newb question: What's the difference between a "civilization" and a "faction" in the workshop/DLC?
This seems really basic, but having just got the game, played once, and wanting some workshop goodness, I can't seem to find the answer to this. Googling "civilization" is tough since it's also in the title and used generically on the wiki...

Pre crusade dlc they were called factions. Crusade adds a civilization builder with the ability to customize ship style, personalize response text, custom portraits for citizens/admins.

Functionally they are the same if you have crusade. Civilizations may not work without it depending on if ship style was customized etc.

Ahh ok. So since I don't have Crusade I should stick to adding just factions for now. Thanks!
