Mod Idea: Fix the f&%$ing game.
I am honestly shocked that running a search for "fps" or "fps fix" or "lag fix" in the workshop doesn't reveal ANY mods that fix the inherent issues with PA that it has had for years. (I am only slightly less shocked that neither Introversion nor Paradox have done so)

Is this game unfixable? I can run a massive rimworld game with zero lag (and even rimworld had literally dozens of mods designed to fix bugs), but I can't have more than 500 prisoners or any map portions unlocked without the fastest speed turning into normal speed, and normal speed turning into a screen saver.

This is not something you can do with mod. The mods just go on top of the games, but cant reduce any lag. The lag is caused by the calculation for prisoners, electric cables and objects.

Also the mod interface for this game is at best weird =)

My bad then. Didn't mean to sound like a brat. Admittedly, I have no idea how modding or game programming works. It's just so frustrating. I have an i7 quad core and geforce gtx 1080 and this is the only game I love that just keeps getting slower and slower...and...slower. Its depressing.

I don't understand other people who talk about their prisons with 1000+ populations. How is the game playable for them?

And yet other people are complaining about TOO MUCH FPS! I wish I had their problems, lol.

In all fairness, I guess I should be grateful that the game runs at all with 500+ pop. It used to lag so badly at this point that it was unplayable.

It really IS a function of your CPU and RAM.
This game, while not a looker, will strain them to the limit and then start to lag.
The map and population sizes it happens depend on how much your machine is packing.

Yeah this games performance has tanked ever since paradox took over, no idea why, I used to run a 400 prisoner prison at a smooth 50fps in multiplayer with no issues but i barely reach 30 now in singleplayer. Shame tbh

because they just add stuff on top, no optimising.

I have been rewriting the shaders side of the graphics engine. Search the workshop for "Lenticular Float32"

Beta 1.2 will be out today... actually I may just upload it now. I need help testing this stuff as Nvidia's compiler is forgiving.
