Even though the game has Windows, Mac, and Linux versions, the developer tools are only available on Windows. Unfortunately, this isn't unusual, it's very common with games. This sort of situation creates a massive headache because the developer tools obviously rely on the base game, but if you try to use the developer tools while the Linux version is installed, it crashes if you try to do anything useful with it. This means I have to force Steam to install the Windows version of the game, which is not optimal, because proton uses system resources and potentially introduces compatibility issues. Additionally, if I were to have both the Windows and Linux versions installed simultaneously, it would mean I have around 11 GB of duplicate data in my game folder. I don't know where the most appropriate place to make such a request would be, but I would appreciate it very much if a Linux version of the developer tools was released. I know it's probably not going to happen, but it's worth asking anyways.
