right now you can zoom out from 100% to 50% to 25% using the buttons in the upper right corner. I usually zoom down to 50% in the large office and skyscraper and I'm using the corners to build a lounge or recreational area. That way my employees stay visible in the center of a floor. For me that's a good workaround.
I also found that once I hire HR manager and readjust both the working hours and the days off I have no need to see the employees anymore. After firing the last sales exec I once left the game running for half an hour not even looking at the screen! So much for automation :-)
However, a fit to screen zoom is a nice to have and will be probably implemented in a future version of the game, that also might have people walking around. But this requires a different game engine.
