Mods crashing since update 1.78? Read this

RWR now halts a script in case of XML load fail instead of just a warning, and it seems several mods have files with XML errors.
Check the rwr_game.log after the crash and you might see something like that:

failed to load C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\270150\690396327/media/packages/Running_with_Trench_Foot/weapons/flamethrower.weapon

In this example, this *.weapon file (which is in XML format) has a syntax error. You can validate any failing file for example here:

https://www.xmlvalidation.com/

copy paste the content of your file and press "validate" and it will tell you what the problem is.

I checked the "validator" and it was useless. it said there was an error, about the Flamethrower in Cortex Assualt, but the error message provided little to no insight on how to fix it. it said something in regards to needing "projectile" to be ended.

I just also realized that we could just have a way to play an outdated version, yes? that would fix everyone who knows how to access the older version's issues.

well it says it, no?
Sound to me like a projectile tag wouldn't have a proper syntax such as <projectile></projectile>

I have also never even touched modding beyond fiddling with files, so i have literally no idea what a <projectile> thing is, so thats probably why i couldnt figure it out.
