Report a translation problem
Resolution was simple in the end. When i checked I had not named my map correctly. It was actually there, just had wrong name so i was looking in the wrong place.. Just my own silly error in the end.
As long as they are .sga files they should work if you put them in the location i mentioned above. Double check you have the path right just to be sure especially if you have other versions of company of heroes loaded on your pc as i do e.g. the legacy version. You need to use the Relaunch path as above in original post. If these are maps you have 'subscribed' to in the workshop you might need to give it a while. They can take a while to download and appear in-game. Give it some time and suggest stopping and restarting steam as well....might just be coincidence, but sometimes works for me.
