We need proper mods
When you have few people, everyone needs to be able to do everything. But when you have 50+ people, it's more efficient if healthy adults aren't spending time picking up sticks instead of doing skilled or active labor. Older adults might be assign to supervise children picking up sticks or straw, or they might be the ones crafting. There could also be trade specialization: people who specialize in weaving produce cloth that lasts longer but metals that aren't as well refined as the ones produced by someone who specializes in smelting...
Storage hut placement currently limits where production buildings are built: everything needs to be close to the storage hut that contains the necessary materials. If storage huts could be specialized the way granaries can be (possibly as a new tech in the Bronze Age), the cloth wouldn't all stink of metal smelting...
