Oh yeah, the shieldwall holds. lol. Just trying to get the word out and looking for like-minded individuals. :)
Magnus is a mech mod junkie. I just happened to pass by and see his post.
Incorporating some mods that improve MW5 is the first step. On our project page under "Downloads" we have a list of links to currently working mods that can immediately improve and expand the vanilla MW5 experience without going too deep into "feature creep" territory.
Direct links are provided so that individual mod author's may directly benefit. (NOTE: in these early stages, mods listed are subject to change). Full disclosure: my personal modding skills are relatively limited, but I have contributed in my own very humble way. But it's not about me and never will be. This project exists to help the community as a whole.
The next stage is incorporating an "analog" Co-op ruleset that any MW5 hosts can use as guidelines. This ruleset can be found on our project page I listed earlier. I call them "analog" and "guidelines" because they only exist based on the player's willingness to follow them. They are entirely optional, but exist to give players new ideas on how to enjoy the game in new and interesting ways that the basic vanilla experience does not address. Granted, many of these concepts would be more ideal if they could be coded into the game itself, but we are trying to work within the limits of the tools we have available to us *right now*. The idea of this second stage is to create a ruleset that is adaptable and easy for anyone to understand and follow within the current state of the game.
The third stage is nothing less than merging existing mods with the higher concepts introduced from the analog Co-op ruleset. For this to happen, I'm hoping to rally other modders who are motivated to partner with me in this project with the end goal to create something that benefits ALL of the Mechwarrior/Battletech community. The project page exists to give them an idea of what we are shooting for. Will this last stage happen? Only time will tell, but I remain optimistic. I'm hoping that by posting this, we can get the word out to more people who are willing to help! So please spread the word! :D
