Second, why would a bus depot be able to catch passengers magically?
Third, passengers in the game don't generate income by reaching a station, they complete their entire journey and pay for it according to the price of each leg.
Fourth. It was not uncommon for railway to be seen in rural area, 100 years ago. Motorization in modern world killed them, but you can now recreate those in the rail-only game world using tram track to lay interurban and you can even go back further in time and use mods to implement horse-powered and human-powered railway from the past.
Second: Cause places with less then 100pax (probably even below 400) in the whole area dont relly make a Tram a worthwile investment, like in real life most of these have either a bus going there or nothing at all. I never said it be super realistic. Its just a mechanic to make building in more rural areas a bit more viable.
Third: Thats why i said, the Bus Stations cost in maintaince, but they pay off by more people using your trains.
Fourth: Yeah. And if this game was like those where you can actually "build up citys" by connectin them, then it would make sense in time. But 50 to 400 pax dont even give you enough people to transport on a tram network.
Thank your for your answer. But i feel given what the ga me is about, connecting little towns below a certain size just does not make sense.
But generaly I think a better idea would be to have some sort of interaction possibilities with local authorities, and let them be responsible for the (invisibile) basic bus services. Some kind of contract you make with them and they do the invisible work, resulting in more passengers. Your part of the work could also be to build a busstaion in front of a rail station, and maybe also place some smaller hubs in nearby towns and connect them directly. The locals would do the work then, but also they would get the fees for the transfer to your train station. Also of course travel time between such a town and the station should be took into consideration.
