Steam workshop is currently inaccessible to Epic and GoG players.
So, we can't even get to the game's workshop page. It stops us at the main workshop front page no matter how we try to access it. It won't even appear in the search.
It may be because it's not properly implemented yet, as I can access the workshops for other games easily enough, even though I own the games on GoG.

For now, If you want your mods to be usable by the whole community, on Steam, Epic, and GoG, I suggest you publish all mods on the Nexus.

On the workshop tab there should be a "browse" drop down and if you click that and select "items" you should be able to see what is available. Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

There is no way to actually land on the Workshop page to even select anything from the browse drop down. And, if you go to the Workshop landing page and try to search for any permutation of 'Mechwarrior'....nothing shows up. I purchased this on Gog to have control of updates and versions, so not being able to even see the workshop is....annoying to say the least.

Also: using the drop down shown above (selecting either items or collections) takes you right back to the main Workshop page...

The sooner you go there, the less time you have to spend wringing your hands and fretting over not having access to a feature on a platform where you don't own the game.

Steam Workshop (subscribing to mods) will only ever be available to those who own the game on Steam.
This goes for all games. You can't subscribe to a mod if you don't have the game.

which is fair, can always just go to Nexus if you want the mod, which I had to do even though I own it it wouldn't come up on steam

Technically true. You can't subscribe to them. But you can add a download button in your browser to the workshop item page, and even use the download collection button on collections pages.
This is by using a special script from Greasy Fork with Tampermonkey plugged into your browser.
But it will never auto-update like subscribed mods do. It's 100% manual only.

Yeah but you can still do lists and favourite etc. so when you do have the game, you get a one click update.
Also you can award people stuff nowadays ^^
