Making Icons

Hi, what is the best tool to make vehicle icons with? I want to make a local set of vehicles, have plenty of photo resources but not sure the best path to illustrate it. Hoping to trace outlines digitally if possible. Do backgrounds need to be transparent or is white sufficient?

Hey,
Use a program that suits you and works best for you. You can use Gimp, it's simple and free. Icons have to be cut out (a background have to be "transparent") to look nice.
