Regardless of using GOG version or Steam version, there's only one %appdata% path. Which is also where the Save games are.
Do you tend to switch platforms when you play? And have different Saves for different platforms?
Or, you rename the folder manually each time you switch?
So, you never stated, without manually copying the folder+files over from the install-path/ModTools/Samples to the appdata path, and clicking on the Mod Editor in the game, what actually happens? Nothing? The Editor doesn't load at all? The index html file also never loaded in the default browser?
(ETA: oh, there's an edit since I last load this page...) So, I see now the Mod Editor starts up blank?
I'd suggest clearing out the \AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars folder totally by zipping it up, store the archive in a save place and then deleting or renaming that. So, when you next launch the game, the game will create a fresh one. Start the Mod Editor then. And report back what happens.
Oh, and I'm assuming this is on Windows? or MacOS?
Post the full path to the Surviving Mars/Mods folder you copied the samples into.
I immediately spotted my mistake reading your post and I must confess that I feel a bit shameful .
Not having perfect eyesight I read folder as being the Surviving Mars folder *+* the mistake were amplified by the fact that the ModTools is in the folder + though I have some experience programming in general then with respect to MODding in the sense we talk about here then I have zero experience (Back in time I have MODded programs and stuff using Hex-editors which in turn again may have added to my mistaken confusion in this case)
Anyway , I am very grateful for your clear and concise guidance . Thank you very much ! very kind of you !
