KAWAII long hair character mods, but the face icon is small.
AnimEuropa,Waifu and more...
The long hair sprites of the KAWAII character mods are large, and the face icon is displayed small.
It's very wasteful.
Is it possible to limit the size of sprites loaded and restore the default size when the face icon is displayed?
Please let me know your ideas.:steamsad:

Could you post a screenshot demonstrating what you mean please? I'm not familiar with those mods and I don't really want to have to subscribe to them myself.

I see what you mean about the profile picture (lower right) being smaller than normal.

I'm not up on how that part of character modding works but my guess is that it's probably due to the way the mod authors have made the sprite graphic files, the profile picture will be defined with a preset size probably by the game, if they have provided a smaller image for this then that would be the problem. Your best bet is probably to contact the mod author.

Yes, I knew it was the cause. Because I got the same answer from the modder's creator.
But I don't want to stop here.
I'm not smart enough to complete a mod on my own, but I can ask, "Is there anything I can do?" So this thread.
I'm looking for possibilities.

I don't know exactly how the profile picture is generated, but compare vanilla character / head files to the mod's files and look for any obvious differences, particularly the size of the heads.

I checked the xml in the human and UI folders, comparing both mod and vanilla, and it seems that no sprite size is specified.
There are places that specify the range of sprites to be loaded for clothing and accessories, but the limbs may be handled by the character editor.
I also checked <style.xml> in the UI folder, but could not find the process for loading face icons into the character's profile.

it's hardcoded
profile picture takes numbers for sizes from HumanDefaultRagdoll.xml, exactly sourcerect=""
and sizes of hairstyles is limited to the same numbers, so with the modding tools that are available, it is impossible to do this at this moment

Thank you Sharaj.
And I'm sorry. I've come to grips with the fact that there's nothing I can do about it.:steamsad:

But the vanilla profile faces are large, why can't modded faces be large too? I don't quite get why there is a difference, even if the source rectangle is fixed it must generate the profile picture from the various graphics files.

Thanks to you too Buggy Boy.
And I knew it, we don't have the means to fix this problem.
It seems that the sprite of the profile picture is determined by the size of the hair sprite, not the size of the face sprite.
If it is a vanilla game, the hair sprite size is small. The crews only have short hair. But in modded games where the crew has long hair, they use larger sprites.
The faces on the profile screen will be smaller because the larger sprites are displayed at the same reduction rate.
And we can't change the "match hair sprite size" process, nor can we re-scale the profile mug shot.
The official barotrauma team will never change the specifications, so we have to give up on this.

Hmm, as the game is effectively open at present then I'd say any change is possible, but changing any core files that define this behaviour might make the game incompatible with the current 0.9 Vanilla core package, so anyone wanting to join a server with this core mod would need to have the same core version. Interesting to know how that part of the game works anyway.

just a bit of a thought. can you add the tail as another set of uncontrollable limbs rather than a set of hair? the head and hair part are what's displayed in the icon and adding a limb of "hair-tail" in the head for longer hair. for a short hair, maybe add an invisible "hair-limb"
i remember you can add limb in the sprite editor

I see, it means splitting the hair into two parts, the back hair and the head.
As I commented before, I'm not smart enough to create mods myself. However, the theory is that moder can make ragdoll swaying back hair, and it seems that the profile picture can be made to normal size. I think it's better to let the moders know the idea.

hair sprite is overlaid on head sprite, they are not separate, they cannot be separated to make them as a separate limb

Even this plan was impossible. what a shame.
Thank you very often Sharaj.
