Map making camera position?

while trying to make a map, the camera is really jacky, and any input on my keyboard/mouse either won't change the camera much or change it in one of the most obscure ways I've seen. Am I missing something?

The controls for the editor are not the same W,A,S,D that you'd think. It may be hold middle mouse. Idk, I just know it's more like CAD software than game controls.
