The one that comes to my mind is spore which makes the placeable object stick to the serface of your build as you are looking to place it then adds extra options for better placement adjustment after you place it in a 3 dimensional space or surface.
its funny how a 3 dimensional game from 2007 has better controls for 3 dimensional building then a 3 dimensional game from recent years, in face i wouldn't think thats very hard to add such 3 dimensional controls to building in this game.
have i said how 3 dimensional it was?
