putting a chest and a bed on the centre redwood wall platform gave me around 12-19 trog horns per day..
The fact that I'm using different types is just to collect resources from canyons in a balanced manner, I could have used any of those types alone, it would have worked just as fine I believe.
The trogs actually prefer the first hours of the morning, but in my experience they continue spawning for at least 5 minutes, in different waves (that is, from about 6 to about 11 AM of in-game time). The best option to have them spawning again is to simply sleep and call morning again, but if you cannot sleep you should try going to another area where mobs spawn and spend some minutes there, far away from the spawner, then going back to the trog spawner. Can't be sure of it, but normally that seems to trigger spawning again.
