While I wish there was some fundamental information about various items (like telling us what skills are relevant to what items... like, is 'Gameplay' a technology item or a design item), the one thing I would like to see is more freedom in what new topics can be reseached. If I want some specific topics, I should be able to decide what topics I start with, and when I want to research additional topics, I should be able to see all topics and select whatever ones I want to.

To much time is wasted trying to research topics to get to the ones you want. Especially since you have a limited amount of time to use certain platforms, each of which has different topics which work best with each of them. I guess that what I'm wondering or asking for is a mod that opens up what topics are visible to select to research from. Does that make sense?
