Echo La Roacha has Age of Empires II (2013)

Userpatch

I am trying to create my own civ for AOE2 HDE, all google results seem to point towards needing an exe called userpatch, however it requires files from the original game to be present (empires2.exe and the eula.txt files)

Is there a built-in, or an updated method for proceeding with race creation?

Not directly on the HD Edition. But you can install a "compatibility patch" to set up a UserPatch installation if you own the HD Edition. See this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/4ir16r/stepbystep_guide_for_setting_up_voobly/

Just saw this, over a year later. I'll have a look at your method when I get back to playing aoe2 again :) thanks
