Hello Joanne!

Please start the main Animaze app normally, from your Steam client library page by using the large green "Launch" button.
If you do that the Steam client then should prompt you with a launcher selection, where you select if you want to start the live service version or the perpetual Animaze Plus 22 version.
If you press launch from the DLC page instead of starting it normally, it won't work because on that flow, the initial launcher prompt is bypassed.

If the prompt does not appear even if going through the main flow, check in the Steam Client DLC manager section, and make sure the 30$ DLC is listed as purchased, and it has the "Activated" checkmark set to on (should be the default behavior).

Thanks. I actually did get a response form the Devs to my email. It wasn't clear to me at first. But later I saw you can change the game you pick when you launch the game.
