Adding new city/province
By city/province I mean the cities in game, such as Rome, which I guess are called provinces in the files? Idk, either way, I was going to add a couple, along with a new country mostly for the experience of doing it. I have not checked the wiki recently but last I checked there was nothing on the "map modding" page, and I don't find anything on a google search. I vaguely remember adding in provinces in HOI4, is it somewhat like that?

Also, I remember HOI having a color picker to choose a color not yet in the game so you could make the place. Is it just a guessing game right now, or how would I know what color has not been used?

Adding provinces are not that different form previous paradox games. This involves uncommenting the unused province from definition.csv and using their color to paint the map in your favorite image editor. After that you will start noticing the differences like the positions being split up and moved to gfx\map\map_object_data.

Will try later, I already attempted to do something and I made a province in the middle of the desert but can't find out how to name it. So I still gotta manually make it in paint, but I just have to mess around with the giant, empty province to make it work? I checked out the definition excel file and it was quite confusing, along with the one that looks like it tells what provinces are next to it.

  • \common\province_setup.csv (concentrate on the very first line what is what) -
  • \localization\english\countries_l_english.yml (You set a defintion with a tag and also an adjective)
  • \common\setup.txt (with the 3rd file you fill it with pops and buildings)
Just take Rome as example in all three files and you'll get there.
Country id ingame with the mapmode but i guess, that you know.
Hope that helps.
