Need help with the lore.

I'm having a great fun building my campaign on the editor right now. My story is done and I'm working on the technical part but I'm starting to feel my module have a big flaw : the lore. My locations are mostly invented and i fear some plot elements may contradict the shadowrun settings.

For example, I was first planning to use Montréal as my main city for the plot, but I then red the Shadowrun Wikia and found out Québec was an independant country in their universe and added stuff I didnt want to tackle for now even if they were very interesting.

Is there a ressource I can get to learn more about the shadowrun lore? I already know about the Shadowrun Wikia and buying source book is not an option for me for now.

Personally, I think independent non-canon UGCs doesn't have to be strict about lore.

As far as free source books; have you already checked out the World of Shadowrun Primer: http://harebrained-schemes.com/shadowrun/primer/

You might want to check with the folks on the Shadowrun forums[www.shadowrun.com] and/or the Shadowrun subreddit. There are some really bright people there who know a ton about the lore and can help answer specific questions and/or summarize important information. So, for example, you might ask what's happening in Montreal in the 2050s or for suggestions for a city that has the elements you need for your campaign.
