Once you've gotten the hang of a few of the modules, then you can try to find a mission pack -- that would be something that has some blue book missions; though you would have to be subscribed to all the necessary mods as well...that's the difficulty; with so many modules, it's hard to pick a fair selection, and then have a mision that is compatible with a lot of folks.
I would say start with a handful of modules, then do freeplay. That's likely the best starting spot.

What I would recommend is to pick at least one or two, and try to start a mission. If it doesn't work, it should tell you when you try to start which mod you are missing. Then, you can go into the mod search in game (or the workshop), and subscribe to the necessary mods to get the mission to essentially unlock.
