Mod request: placeable dirt
I don't like that you can't move soil around so you can place your farms/pastures where you want them. Can we get a mod that lets you pick up and place down farmable floor types?

You can place your farms where you want by just watering the stone where you want them. You'll have ground of the same caliber as any of the soils near the surface.

Opening any farming any of the underground caverns is still the best of course.

OH! You are trying to move the GOOD cavern soil up near the surface? Got ya. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and hopefully someone will make a mod for you on that!

I would appreciate that too! These are Dwarfs. Terraforming Rock, Stone and Soil are part of their DNA. There is no reason why this elementary part is not in the game.

I would spent all of the gems in my mountain hall to this honorable bearded Modder who teach my kind to move the soil!

If I remember correctly you can fill the holes with any construction, and then cover them in water. Let the water drain, and the floor should be covered in mud. Then you should be able to build a farm plot on it. Though, if you want natural growth that doesn't work.

For the covering with water, just build a wall around the area with a ramp up to it. Then set it as a pond zone (the same z level as the top of the wall). If you have buckets, then your layabouts should begin to dump water from a nearby source into the pond. Then tear down the wall and let the water evaporate. Now you should have muddy ground.

Unfortunately it doesn't work very well. It takes a long time until the mud layer is thick enough. And there is no guarantee that something will grow there in the end. Apparently that doesn't work at all on artificial floors. It would be easier if you could lay the natural floors yourself.

This would be awesome to be able to place soil/sand/clay
