Are Workshop creations too old to work?
Hello, Bannies! I've subscribed to some workshop mods while waiting to get into World of Banished for mods.
Are some of them out of date? I read in some of the comments that they are. Should we NOT be using them? My pretty city started crashing when my population got to about 400 on a brand new rig.
Can someone get rid of the outdated ones, or who controls making sure these workshop items are safe/updated? I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to subscribe?

I've really been enjoying this game! I MUST have mods to fill in the gaps and make my town beautiful. Any of you vets know about the workshop mods and their stability?

AND- if you know him, please poke Red Ketchup to accept registrations on WOB.:steamhappy:

Some of the old mods were made for a previous version of the game. The last patch added limits/flags and can cause those old mods to crash your game, or lead to produced items having the wonrg flags and being unusable.

For Steam mods, you should look for mods published after mid-2017. Those should be safe.

As a side note, the game is not super well optimized. High populations will lag, especially if you try to play at x10 speed.

Thank you! I have had success with a few mods from the workshop (rk editor choice) and even a couple from Nexus Mods. I'm playing on 2x speed, I know, grueling.
I'm using some workshop mods that are before 2017 (improved wood cutters, etc) and so far, with not a huge population, I'm not crashing. Yay! I should look for a current version of those.
Not easy- where are they?
I really appreciate the help!.:coolstar2022:

Your best bet here on Steam is to use the search by keyword, but then sort by most recent first. The publication date will be on the right side when you have a look at the mod page.

Simple things that only change worker amounts, for "normal" resources generally still work if they're older than 2017.
Things that rework categories or add recipes are more dangerous. The old "stop burning coal in houses" kind of mods for example will all cause issues.
