Report a translation problem
For Steam mods, you should look for mods published after mid-2017. Those should be safe.
As a side note, the game is not super well optimized. High populations will lag, especially if you try to play at x10 speed.
I'm using some workshop mods that are before 2017 (improved wood cutters, etc) and so far, with not a huge population, I'm not crashing. Yay! I should look for a current version of those.
Not easy- where are they?

Simple things that only change worker amounts, for "normal" resources generally still work if they're older than 2017.
Things that rework categories or add recipes are more dangerous. The old "stop burning coal in houses" kind of mods for example will all cause issues.
