There is a limit to number of children and it's really sad when 2 pairs produce all of them. 10 children per couple is way too much. 4-5 should be an absolute max. Because of this other couples usually have no chance to have offspring before reaching child cap. This sort of mod shouldn't be challenging to make, probably just changing some value but it would be huge improvement for making generational fortresses. Currently at some point when migrants stop coming due to number of dead you end up relying on visitors mostly. Also dwarves only marry dwarves that are around their age and not close relatives so if 2 pairs produce all children then making generational fortress becomes impossible later on because everybody becomes one big family.
