Manually Installing MP Mods?
I understand that Civ 5 was never meant to have mods enabled in Multiplayer by default.

However I see that over the years, people came up with different ways of getting mods into Multiplayer regardless, mostly via the use of external programs such as mod managers.

While that certainly is a solution, I was wondering whether there was an already-established method of manually installing the mod files into your game?

From what I can gather, Civ 5 stores it's mod files in My "Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\" (for Windows OS at least).
In each mod file, there appear to be Lua and XML files detailing the contents of the mods.

From what I can also gather, Civ 5 stores it's official DLC content in "steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC\".
Each DLC appears to have it's own folder.

I was wondering whether someone found a way of integrating the user-made mods from the Workshop into these official DLC files, so the game automatically runs them at startup and allows them to be used in Multiplayer as if they were official DLC.

Thanks for reading my posting, any guidance is appreciated.

That also appears to require a third-party program. I was looking for a method of manually merging the mod files with the game files, without the use of a third-party program.

I actually looked this up a while ago, and I swear I found a method online... but I can't find it again, hence why I'm asking here.

Firetuner is a first-party tool.
Went hunting for the guide because I kind of remembered seeing it too. Found the one I rembered: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233428613 Might work with small, simple mods. YMMV.

Just to let you know, you can 100% play modded multiplayer.
However, the more mods you seek to play with, and depending on their size/content, increases the chance of your game reloading/crashing/becoming unplayable
furthermore, when you attempt to save your game and reload it with the same players, either from start screen or in-game, there are always map/geographical errors

I've never had any serious issues with modded hotseat (just occasional crashes that can be fixed by loading an autosave), even with a very heavy mod like VP using a mapscript that generates far larger maps than the base game as. Network multiplayer, good luck.

i play a modded game used multiplayer mod workaround and Firetuner. played dozens maybe a 100 games. As long as several steps are followed you can get it to work. Maybe not every mod some don't play nice together.
