An easy way to avoid this is to delete the entire save before playing a modded slugcat and then when you start a new save ONLY play that modded slugcat, because it's essentially saving all of its savedata OVER other campaigns like spear master ect. and if you feel like playing another slugcat you'll have to clear the save data again and start with fresh savedata every time
Another big culprit is custom regions as well, Downpour pretty much completely changed/got rid of the framework that custom regions were added with from 1.5 meaning all currently released custom regions are extremely buggy and break the map which will in turn break your save.
If you have any of these, turn them all off and wait a year or two/if at all for the old region mods from raindb to come out.
Basically donwpour devs broke how custom levelsare loaded on the map so modders have to wait for the whole system to be reworked for custom regions to come back.
The devs plan to work on this "after console release of downpour" which essentially means "dont expect it any time soon"
But in the the meantime mod authors who just 1 for 1 "ported their mod" without taking into account the framework changes essentially released regions that are guaranteed to brick your save and at worst make you reinstall the game.
tl:dr Its either custom slugcats or custom regions. Neither of those types of mods currently work without breaking your save
I thought it was something like that. I have one or two custom regions, but none of them are 1 to 1 ports, all recently made, but I definitely have a few slugcats. If it's an issue with 1 to 1 ports, than I might know the problem, but if I can't figure it out I'll just disable all of the custom slugcat mods when I'm doing the hunter's expedition quest. Thanks for the help!
It's all of the new regions. Until custom map-data framework is fixed the game cannot handle adding significant new content like regions without doing whacky stuff to the map and your savefiles.
If you want to play some custom regions, downgrade to 1.5 and mod your 1.5 game, you wont have downpour, or the remix menu but you'll have about 30 absolutely S tier modded regions that are kind of in limbo right now because of the framework changes from 1.5 to 1.9.
It actually kind of bums me out because this game lost a lot of content when downpour came out thanks to custom regions being broken. The best content for this game was the custom regions and they are all gone now.
I... don't really want custom regions, I'm looking to complete the hunter birdwatching mission without the save corrupting. Also, this was an issue before I downloaded any new region mods. One of these mods is the tower, and this problem was WAY before I downloaded that, and the second one (which isn't really a custom region) is expanded outskirts which I'm probably gonna remove because it's not really that polished, and it was still a problem before I subscribed to that too.
Check the logs to see if you can find the cause, mods such as guardian and merge fix will also help with incompatibility issues.
The Tower is an alright mod... but it doesn't respect the region lease.
As for the ingame map, you have to restart your slugcat's campaign to fix it. It breaks when new regions are added or rooms are added to preexisting ones (something similar happens with creature spawns)
Hello,can I ask a question about a folder named "mergedmods" ?
Typically, there should be a folder named "mergedmods" located in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Rain World\RainWorld_Data\StreamingAssets, am I correct?
When this folder is present, upon launching the game, a pop-up window appears, informing me that the enabled mods have been updated and prompts me to click a button to apply the update.
Upon clicking the button, the "mergedmods" folder in the StreamingAssets directory disappears, rendering it impossible to enable the "More Slugcats Expansion" mod.
Even if I reinsert the "mergedmods" folder after clicking the button, it vanishes when attempting to enable the "More Slugcats Expansion" mod and produces an error.
In an effort to resolve this issue, I've attempted various measures, including deleting all mods, uninstalling and reinstalling the DLC, uninstalling the game and reinstalling it on a different hard driv, clearing my save files, and rebooting my computer. Unfortunately, none of these attempts have been successful. Therefore, I'm reaching out to you in the hopes of finding a solution.
I sincerely hope that you come across this message and are able to respond. Thank you once again!
