For extra style points ( and if your machine is powerful enough), look into the Dynamic light setup where a screen capture of your game showing the racetrack, can be dynamically turned into dynamic light affecting the avatar, so you can make the lighting match better if you drive through forests/canyons/tunnels and whatnot.
