[b]City Gent series updated![b]
City Gents are now available in two versions:
std’ (standard) are equipped with the same accessories (umbrellas, bags etc.) as before; ‘basic’ have no accessories, but all the accessories, plus some new ones are now available as separate mods, so you can mix and match as you like.

All figures are multi-paintable (coats/trousers/shoes) as are most of the accessories. The available accessories are:

Umbrella
Walking stick
Spectacles
Sunglasses
Briefcase
Attaché case
Bowler hat

The City Gents also have a selection of newspapers they can carry (or leave lying around!), currently:

UK papers
The Financial Times
The Times
The Times 1956 (a retro version for those nostalgic for the days of steam)
The Daily Telegraph
The Guardian

US papers
The New York Times
The Washington Post
The Boston Globe

Snapping
All figures have a single snapping point at eye level; this makes the placing of the spectacle and sunglasses props very easy – without it it’s very fiddly! However, snapping as currently implemented in the game has some quirky effects on small props, so the following tips are included to make your life a bit easier:

1. Placing the City Gents: props without snapping are placed exactly where you point. But all props with snapping set to ‘on’ will be significantly displaced from where you are pointing – this affects all the City Gents. If you’re very close to the scene when placing a City Gent he may well be placed outside your field of view or even behind you.

The workaround is to place your figure from a distance and then use the edit function (F) to move him where you want him.

2. Placing City Gents near one another: the range that determines whether items snap to one another is very large in relation to small props like the City Gents. This means that if you place a second City Gent within range of one you have already placed he will snap to the first one’s eyes.

The workaround is to use the ‘apply changes’ function when you’re happy with the first figure. This will stop the second one from snapping to the first. This way you can create a whole group of City Gents without getting frustrated. If you’re not familiar with using the edit hand tool, now’s the time to start. You’ll usually find it in the 1st or 2nd slot on your toolbelt.

3. Removing spectacles and sunglasses: they will snap to the face accurately, but removing them can be tricky because they are so close to the figure. It’s almost impossible to select them in order to delete them as the figure takes precedence and you are likely to delete the figure instead – v frustrating when you’ve added accessories to the figure as it’s impossible to replace him in exactly the same position.

The workaround is first to use the edit function on the City Gent to move him a little way along one axis only. Close the edit, then you can select the specs and delete them with R. Edit the City Gent again and move him back into position along the same axis.

Placing the accessories: the following tips may help:

1. The briefcase, attaché case and the newspapers do not snap, so you can accurately place them on the ground next to your City Gent and then use the edit function to move them to a hand or wherever you want.

2. The umbrella and walking stick are set to rotate around their handles when using the edit function. This means that once you have placed the handle where you want it e.g. in a hand (!), you can then rotate it in any direction and the handle will stay in the hand.

3. The bowler hat will normally snap to the eyes where it can be selected and edited into position.

I hope you find these tips helpful and enjoy getting creative with these little characters!
