Hopefully they will get it worked out and bring it back, great mod, lots of potential, and both of them are skilled modders.
Huge update as in new content? That's exciting.
Does that mean hes not still working on it or he is?
He had created a set of low quality textures to help improve performance, but the improvements were only marginal and did not resolve the crashes, because the real underlying issue is the M&B engine. WSE2 is a new engine for M&B, and it solves all of the problems that the old one has. I told him that I had no problem including his low quality textures in a separate package as an option for players who felt they needed it, but that we should use the normal textures by default and continue to recommend players use WSE2, and possibly also include WSE2 in the mod package so that people don't have to make a separate download for it.
For some reason, Mad Scientist did not like this at all and felt that it was enough reason to abruptly quit the mod, and since he had uploaded the mod to the workshop on my behalf because I was having trouble getting it uploaded under my account, he had the power to remove me as an author from my own mod on the workshop, and did so. I really have no idea why he took such grave exception to recommending people who have crashes to use WSE2, and include the low quality textures as a separate option for the player to choose, there really wasn't any problem at all with this, but that's what he's decided to do.
Thankfully the mod was already basically finished by the time Mad Scientist decided to quit, so once I've sorted out some final bugs, the mod will be uploaded to moddb first, and then to the steam workshop afterwards. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this will be very much a temporary process. Everything should be up and running sometime in the next week or two.
Thank you for explaining. I am glad you plan on re-uploading it to steam when you polish it. I do not believe it is unethical to use WSE2 nor do I believe it unethical to publish it if it will crash. Hell, the vanilla game crashes sometimes. I've already put 30+ hours in the mod and had it crash many times but its so fun, I just reload it and keep going. Save often and you will be fine. Keep going, this is a work of art!
Edit: I believe that it would be unethical to deprive the community of the mod because it may crash. I do not know mad scientist but I do not agree with his/her/other viewpoint.
