Send a bot with maxed out fighting skills and very good weaponry and they should stand a very good chance of winning. Send a squad for more security, one with medical skill, a very effective fighting force!
However, I suspect the devs wouldn't go for this considering that the game is about the horror aspect rather than sitting in a sub and turning the game into a crew management thing, the horror aspect is pretty much gone.
I have looked at the AI routines myself in the game code, it's really tricky to follow even for basic routines (limited or no comments telling what things actually do or why), and modding the AI would require LUA which I'm not willing to get into as it can introduce instability and security concerns to the game.
