Electricity is the BASIC utility, easiest to design/build and as if my memory serves me right, it is also the oldest utility out there. With multiple sets of switches and underground cables options it is a piece of cake, absolutely easy to place and play with.
Or do you have everything else (water, sewage, fuel, waste) off, too, and you are playing only on easiest mode possible? Because what is a bit of a hassle is water+sewage and all the other stuff, not electricity. And if you have even that thing off, you are probably having many others off, too, and that basically cuts you off from the beauty of this game.
If hardcore management of dozens of resource types and worker care is not your cup of coffee, this game might not be the best one for you to enjoy.
I play with everything but electricity and heating. Do you work for the company or are you just a nuisance on the steam forums? I heard another person like that had an absolute meltdown and went after the devs, which is gross, so I don't have much tolerance for those kinds of people anymore.
