Between Empires- How do I start my own faction?

I cannot attack any towns, I cannot customize my troops in the camp menu like other guides suggest. I cannot raise my clan level as this is not bannerlord like some "guides" suggest. I cannot rebel after taking a fief as a Marshall in someone elses army like other guides suggest.

Has anyone ever actually played this mod for real? Every thread on this mod is full of unanswered questions and gishgallop from people who clearly don't know what they are talking about, if you do not know the answer please do not even bother responding, there are more than enough useless threads about this.

Between Empires has a unique playstyle, you cannot rebel. And if you start as a faction leader you cannot customize troops. To start your own Kingdom (and customize) you need to be an independent adventurer, and capture a fief with your troops. This is the only way (that I am aware of.) So your choices are either to spawn your character as a nation leader, or to take a fief from scratch (if your goal is nation leadership -but only the first option lets you customize-) Hope that helps!
Also, I wish they would do another update to this, but I know that the create is basically gone. so this won't happen. But, its a fun mod when you start to get into it!

Your relationship with faction needs to be below 0, even -1 will do, before you can sack one of their fiefs. Try rob one of their caravans, making them pay you instead of entering battle still will lower your relationship.
