Watching Anaglyph-2D-Pictures in workshop room
The idea:
- have a couple of red-cyan-anaglyph images in a gallery i made als workshop environment
- giving the visitor anaglyph glasses (prop_destinations_physics (frozen)) to use
- then he can watch the 2d-anaglyphes in stereo

So far the idea:
- mounting the red-cyan anaglyphes is no problem for sure
BUT:
- how to bring the right glass to a clear Cyan material with high transparency but strong cyan color
- doing the same in red for the left glas

I guess I tried all combinations of alpha/translucency in the material editor, with and without self-illumination of both the image and the color glasses --- NO success.

Anyone an idea, how to get mostly transparent but intensive colored glass material?

I don't think it's possible to do proper color filters without custom postprocess shaders, and SteamVR Home doesn't have any way of doing them.
Okay, thats a pity.
Do you think it is possible to build a viewer for side-by-side stereo images by holding two Fresnel lenses in front of the viewer so that the two sbs images are on top of each other?
Lenses would also require postprocess shaders, but I'm guessing it might be possible to just put two images close enough to the head.
OK, I tried making a 'stereoscopic' viewer with 2 SBS pics. But when the size is good enough to bring the pictures together right before the eyes, then the resolution of the pics is (logic...) so low, that there is no more an acceptable image.

Another idea:
- The user grabs a stereoscopic viewer model or a Viewmaster(TM) from a table and hold it in front of the face, no picture must be inside the viewer
- Near enough and the left/right pictures are shown directly on the left/right display of the headset in the maximum resolution of the VR headset. Just like 3D-Viewers like Skybox, Virtualdesktop etc. do.
- How can we bring (per script, I guess) those left/right pictures to the displays and back again the 'real' world of the Workshop destination when the viewer is in distance of the users head?
- Maybe there is a function in Hammer editor?

Ideas are welcome!

I don't think there is any support for rendering images like that. You are likely limited to rendering images in world-space.
