[SERIOUS] And maybe even Urgent...
.
BigCorporation, I know it's a Bible, and it hurts just to catch the eye. But you need to read this, but it doesn't have to be now.
Don't feel rushed before, during or after reading this.

The workshop is filled with reuploads/reposts of the works/crosshairs, posted by other people, who are not the original creators.

It may seem that it is pathetic to discuss simple images overlaid on our screen.
But it is not.
These reposts have several impacts, on people, on works, and on the community itself.

Bad things that can happen when a repost is done without authorization from the original author:

A very obvious one:
Spam
The number of reposts is huge. And the worst: It keeps growing.
It is simply incredible that 40% to 60% of all uploads are reposts.

What is the result of this?
Difficulty navigating through the upload lists;
Difficulty finding an original crosshair that you haven't seen more than 10 times;
Difficulty publishing your own crosshair, as you risk losing your work in the middle of this sea of resposts and never being seen again, no matter your effort and the quality of your crosshair;
If your crosshair is not popular during the first week it was posted, chances are it will sink deeper and deeper into this abyss of reposts.

The Workshop gets a bad reputation
In addition to everything that Spam can cause, it makes the Workshop look horrible visually.
What I mean by this?
I mean that due to the huge number of repeated crosshairs, the interface and navigation, in addition to being more difficult to navigate, gets uglier.

Yes, appearance is one of the smallest things to care about here, but I thought it was good to include it too.

This "ugliness" can result in:
A bad fimpression, especially for new visitors.
It makes our community look stupid and/or lazy, and that our Workshop is not a place that deserves attention, that results in a smaller number of interest, quality and participants (viewers and creators).
Less motivation to search in depth for an original, decent and above all not repeated crosshair, which may exist and that a person struggled to do and deserved more recognition.

And the most obvious of all:
Negative Impact on Original Works and Creators
As much as it is obvious, it is something very serious.

No one feels good about seeing something stolen from you, and above all, not just something, but everything that this something could have positively brought / done for you.

What can happen when an original Creator sees his works being stolen:
He gets upset, and may be less able to do anything decent, or even give up completely and never create any new crosshair, further reducing the "average quality" of the Workshop.
Perhaps even he gets angry, and fights can occur publicly.
The original work may stop gaining attention and may even be overshadowed by a repost in the future.
He doesn't get what he deserves for his work (recognition/fame, views, likes, favorites, compliments, maybe even pleasure and happiness[...]

[...]And one of the most serious (also the main reason I'm writing this):
Negative impact on morale and even people's pockets
With the recent Steam update, people can give Community Awards to others who participate in the community.
These Awards cost 300 Steam Points to send. This is equivalent to 3 Dollars.
In addition, whoever created the item/post, receives 100 points after 14 days, equivalent to 1 Dollar.

In other words: A person has just "lost" 3 Dollars because he gave an Award to a person who didn't even try to do something, who will now "receive" the equivalent of 1 Dollar.
This will encourage the reposter to do more reposts to earn more points and this will be repeated again and again.

And above all, the original creator, who should be earning these points for his effort and creativity, will not receive the reward he deserves.

These points are not only 100 points for the creator.
It is also something that encourages you to continue creating new content, being a "source of happiness".
This symbolizes that a person has just sacrificed 3 Dollars to show how incredible his work is, and this can be a very powerful emotional support in small numbers, imagine in large quantities.

But, when the creator sees his works being stolen and strangers benefiting from it, the opposite occurs.
The creator feels bad. He thinks to himself:
"Why continue if my works will be stolen, and I will receive nothing, neither points, nor credit, nor "fame", and above all, nor pleasure? I will not continue any more. I will not feed these vultures with my work!"

My Solutions/Suggestions:
I have 2 main ideas in mind.
I will try to explain them and give my opinion on my own ideas.

1 - Make it impossible to Publish Subscribed Items and the 3 Example/Default Crosshairs.
In my opinion, this IS THE SOLUTION.
It is very effective, and above all technically easier.

It is a SERIOUS mistake, and quite obvious.
It just doesn't make any sense to be able to Publish an Subscribed item, neither the 3 Examples/Defaults that the game shows you.

2 Things can be done:
Option 1- Effective and simple:
It is to make the "Publish" button disappear when we click on the "Subscribed" button, or when we have one of the Example CrossHairs selected.
This will make reposts of old and new Croshairs impossible.

There is a single, but minuscule (and ignorable) problem, that if a person wanted his work to be reposted, it would not be possible.
But I believe that don't even 5% of the creators like to see their works being reposted, and if a person wanted to repost or make an important modification, they would talk to the original creator in private, and the last one would send the png file to him privately via Steam.

Option 2 - Comprehensive, Effective, but a little more complex, and perhaps more problematic:
When a new upload is made, we will have a new check box with the option to "Allow Reposts", or something like that.
If you do not check this box, the same as in Option 1 will occur when someone selects your item.
If you checked, the "Upload" button will appear for anyone.

However, this Option has some more problems compared to Option 1:
What will happen to the Crosshairs that have already been posted? Will reposts be possible as always, or will all be changed to Option 1? Will the original author be necessary to reupload his CrossHair, by the way, before others repost it and select this option?

Many people may even not realize this option, even if they don't want reposts, which can result in a loophole for more spam. So I suggest that it is checked by default.

That is why I prefer Option 1.
Very few people will want their works to be reposted, so this extra work is not very necessary, and there may be some disagreements about the CrossHairs already posted, because someone can disagree with the option selected for everyone, not because he literally wants to, but because new Uploas can, but he cannot because he would have to delete and send his CrossHair again.

If this Option did not exist, he would not even think about it much, because everyone would be in the same situation, and nothing will change for the worse, only for the better (in 95% of cases).

2 - Create an Agreement
The creation of an agreement or an update to an agreement, which may involve only new publications or even old ones, in the case of an update.

Users must sign that they consent to "their" works being deleted if it is proved that it is a repost not authorized by the original author.

If they do not sign, they won't be able to make new uploads until they sign.

If you want to include the old reposts, it will be necessary to create an announcement warning everyone about this "new change", and that it will be mandatory to sign, otherwise it will not be possible to post new crosshairs, and existing crosshairs will be excluded, if unsigned and/or reported by the original creators (atleast, if not, even without reports).

This can be a little more difficult ... since it involves more opinions, and deletions.

My ULTIMATE Suggestion:
Do Option 1 of "1 - Make it impossible to Publish Subscribed Items and the 3 Example / Default Crosshairs." first, ASAP (Don't feel rushed, but know that the sooner the better).
This will stop the number of reposts from growing and you won't have to work anymore, and come back every day to delete new reposts.
And then, feel free. After a few weeks or months of rest, create a mandatory Agreement that involves new and old uploads. With this, you will be able to delete new and old reposts without any problems (Thats what I think).

Blood and Bacon receives an increasing number of players, and this also results in a greater number of publications and reposts.
Most of these reposts are made by people who played the game 1 or 2 times and never came back, so don't feel sorry for them.
You have to think about who stays here playing the longest.

"People need freedom" is not a very good argument in this situation. It looks like anarchy here.
And again, it doesn't make sense to be able to post a registered crosshair.

That's all... for now.
Sorry for the giant Bible I wrote, but I had to show everything I know and what I think.
I hope you understand, and that, above all, do something about it.
And again, don't feel rushed, rest if you need to (I would do a little before starting), but the number of reposts keeps increasing and this can result in new problems.

Also think that this will make your Workshop better, and that it will help almost forever. And remember about the recent Steam Update about Community Awards and the bad things that can happen.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Steam has rules for workshop items in place already which you sign to use the workshop.
Steam already states:

"Workshop Contributions are Subscriptions, and therefore you agree that any Subscriber receiving distribution of your Workshop Contribution will have the same rights to use your Workshop Contribution"

Not sure what this all means, but posting works to the workshop allows steam to do what they want with the mods according to their terms of service, which every user must sign.

Ummm ok,so the agreement thing falls out of the table for now.
But atleast, you have to disable "Publish" button when browsing Subscribed crosshairs.
That's not necessary, actually thats a problem.
