Curious question to vehicle modders
Something i've been thinking about last couple of days.

the cargo of vehicles, its great to know what a vehicle can carry pre-purchase, but what i want to know if its possible to only see what the vehicle is carrying at that time, i'm ok if its an empty vehicle to see the full list of cargo able to carry.

But when its carrying something, that's all i want to seein the list, so i can easily see how much is in transit to make sure i'm always ahead of the game (so to speak).

It may sound like a silly thing but its better than have to scroll for ages to find what i want to see..

Hi, I'm not sure I'm understanding the issue... When you click on any vehicle on the map, it shows exactly what it's carrying in its Vehicle Window.
https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:linesvehicles#vehicle_window

You can also open the Vehicle Stats window and see this for every vehicle at the same time.
https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:statisticsdatalayers#vehicle_statistics

And if you're "riding" on a vehicle (vehicle camera mode), the current cargo is shown at the bottom of the screen.

This is a basic game feature, it doesn't have anything to do with mods.

Cheers

Ah yes you slightly misunderstand. yes i can see what its carrying but i can also see what it is not carrying, ie every single cargo, i just want what its carrying not every single cargo.

this shows what i mean

Why can it not show only what i am carrying and not what i am not carrying

Hmm, interesting... It's typical of the game that when vehicles are first released from the depot or empty they tend to show some default cargo types. If there are multiple cargo "compartments" (like rail cars), it sometimes shows a few cargo types. As the vehicle makes runs, any empty cars seem to show the previous cargo type it carried.

All that said, your example is showing the most empty cargo types I've ever seen on a vehicle, which does seem a little odd. You say this is a modded vehicle? What mod(s) is it?

Both of those mods are configured in a non-standard way. They are capable of carrying all of those cargoes at the same time
Most vehicles, stock and mod, have a different load configuration for each cargo type. A vehicle only ever has one load configuration active at a time, although which one is active will change to suit the cargo available to carry.
When you purchase a stake car, it will initially show as carrying 0 out of 20 logs.
When it arrives at the sawmill, it will load planks and will now show as carrying (say) 18 out of 20 planks.
It then arrives at the tools factory and unloads. It now displays as carrying 0 out of 20 planks.

The vehicles in the mods you quote have a single load configuration that includes all cargo types, so they will always show as having simultaneous capacity for all those cargo types, because in fact, they do.

Yes i know Doug

Which is why i am asking that even though the mod does that, why can't it show when loaded with cargo it only shows whats loaded and not the full list of cargo it can carry.

Btw i use a lot of different modded vehicles from all of the different modders..

You mean like i showed in my original image.. showing everything that can be carried and not just what is carried.
Bauer33333 10 25 Feb, 2024 @ 7:10am
I probably misunderstood what you said, sorry. Your sentences are not super easy :D

It will show what the compartment has been last used for. So if you fill up everything with the same stuff the others will go away from the cockpit view even when it is empty

I think @doug covered it, it's a fundamental game function for all vehicles, modded or otherwise. So when a crazy OP mod like these ones is thrown into it (too game-breaking for my tastes lol), well..., ask for everything, receive EVERYTHINGSSS! Haha

Although it sounds like only the game devs could change how this works, have you asked that modder about it? Maybe they already looked into it.

Cheers

which is why i made this thread, in the hope that one of the vehicle modders looked into it, or had looked into it.

Right, I mean did you also ask that specific modder directly on their mod's workshop page? (Some modder's don't read the forums..., or even their own workshop pages.)
