Less or Reduced Sectors
I wonder if the simulation would be better if there were less sectors in the galaxy. At first this seems like a crazy idea, everyone wants more, right? But what if the sectors in the galaxy that existed were reduced dramatically?

Most sectors are just empty space with a nice background to look at, and some asteroids or gas scattered about in various patterns. It wouldn't be such a loss to cut-out many of these sectors. Maybe if these sectors were reduced to a minimum amount for plots/quests to function, with most factions maybe having ~3 or so sectors before they are next to another faction.

Perhaps this would increase the density of ships and stations, resulting in more efficient logistics, more 'lively' space traffic, and maybe even more exciting war-fronts where opposing factions meet. Of course, there would be some other side-effects to this change. Resources would deplete and there would be less to be gathered elsewhere. If Xenon sectors weren't similarly reduced, the balance of power could be different. Also, there might be unintended consequences that prevent or alter the completion of plot-lines too.

I don't really even know where to begin to make such a mod, so I am posting this idea on the off-chance that someone who does know is interested in this idea.

idk if it really would even help the performance since everything would be the same from the game side. less sectors but more things to render would proably hit the fps in this.. a unlived sector gives damn good fps´es..a believed one not.. you get where i came from. its sad it runs not that smooth but ultimately.. its the problem of complexity..you can go only so far.

if you get good FPS rates in big battle and not like my 5 FPS endgame xenon battle with 500 ships + be assured your FPS are damn good =)
btw that is on a i5 9300h 4ghz

Less sectors bigger area within like X 2 expanded sector mod, I read that things are computed/ calculated in 100k areas so that if you are 100k away from a large battle at a station it has less effect on your fps (not sure this is correct). unfortunately the X2 mod isnt working with 7 update atm.

Happy running at a smooth 30fps maxed out settings (ultra shadows) on a 4k tv screen, overclocked i10700k @ 4ghz and a RTX 3080. 7 update has made huge improvements but I have given up on ever owning a PC that can run this game as it should. edit i7-10700k
