Those who play on consoles will think it is a large investment to be spent on a gaming PC. But for this game, the investment should be minimal.
But your request seems unlikely to happen unless SCS do not plan on making money out of ETS2.
EDIT
I do think that somehow separating out 'skins' from trucks, trailers and cars would make finding these items easier as long as skin modders don't further abuse the system to have greater viability of skin mods.
The reason for no map mods on the Steam workshop is that the Steam workshop does not allow large enough file sizes for map mods.
Car mods get created and abandoned/not updated by authors. This has been consistent over the whole life of the game. Car mods just don't get updated and at some point many are delisted.
There seams to be more truck mods for ATS than ETS2 on the workshop, there may be third party websites with additional mods, but you must be careful using some of these sites.
When SCS release console versions of the game, they may go for allowing mods on a website like mod.io to allow multiplatform mod support and access across a wider range of devices.
This is already possible, however, too many mod authors upload their skins into the "Truck" category instead of the "Truck parts" category. Also, there are authors who abuse the categories by selecting ALL of them, regardless of whether they correspond to the actual mod or not.
No map mods is due to the complexity of the mods to verify if they are within certain standards (for lack of a better word), there's a sticky post about it somewhere.
Updating the workshop isn't going to add more trucks (or cars), or keep the ones we have updated, this is purely a mod author's choice.
Question from me now is why ppl just dont upload cars and trucks then, whats wrong with uploading it. Ik u dont know the answer but maybe some modders will read this.
I wouldn't bother. The forum has nothing to do with Steam.
