Elevator mod recomendation?
Hello all.

I am doing one huge project (well at least it is huge in my head XD) and I need to put some kind of elevator. I am looking for reliable and stable mod that will not cause any bugs and game crashes.

Hi, I use one piston to create elevator and never had any problems.

Example = I made one for my large block Rover so I can up in without Jetpack :

Share more clues about what your are working on, is it an elevator to go to the second floor of your station or it is elevator planet to space ?

Would be better to share more details on what you are working on, I know all sorts of setups without any Mods.

Well, it is one huge ship based from star wars universe. Original is 300m long I made it at about 200 long and in front section it goes down to at about 80 blocks more or less. At this point it is only a rough outer shell so i get an idea about size. I am not even sure will my game remain stable till it is complete. I will for sure make classic staircase from top to bottom but at other side I planned to make fast jetpack travel shaft ot some kind of elevator. As Ship this big would be pain to travel by foot, I am guessing 2x2 corridors would be good thing so you can jetpack from front to back and at any needed deck. I was thinking to make mods at minimum so it don't get broken over time. For now I plan to use that force field hangar bay mod as it is in SW. Ship' will be due to size only flyable in space, obviously, armed to the teeth and with huge bay for fighters.
I realize that I am very vague about project but i am still unsure will i be able to end it propperly. I tried to build one very large ship so far and I did not go to the end. Hopefully i will be able to do it with this one. But honestly, I am not sure will even making this via holo projectors be feasible on servers in game XD. That elevator mod looks very nice and it is MP safe so i might try to make test shaft to see will it be usable on ship with this many decks.

Thanks for the details.

Caution when building huge "Mothership" :

The main "Rule" is no more than 100 blocks long for a Mothership, to have a not bad in-game Perfo and mostly to be able to complete it wihtout reaching the "Physical Shape" limit (not PCU limit) we can see in Info Tab of the grid terminal.

-> We reach that grid limit (physical shape) faster when builing over 100 blocks long and lose all the hard work because the creation becomes a "Ghost" where the character can go through blocks and nothing can be done to fix.

Physical Shape = Grid size limit the game can support in a world.

Surely not working on Public servers, because most have "Block limit" enabled and setup to play with friends in your Faction to be able to build more than one station only.

Well. I will set limit then to 90 long and about 50 tall. That should be nuff anyway. Also, thank you for important tip. I did not know that limit.

I was testing today above mentioned 90 blocks and it is extremely small. This is no capital ship then. Even at 200 blocks it looks only like medium sized

It is sadly the Grid size limit to have a not bad in-game Perfo.when no more than 100 to 200 blocks long and no more +/-100 000 PCU for a "Mothership".

The Big problems :
-> is once adding Thrusters, Gyros and Power blocks needed to fly, the ship becomes too heavy at point the Gyros and Jump Drive blocks will not work at all.
+
-> We reach the Physical shape limit faster once over 100 blocks long and can't complete the ship so all the hard work for losing the creation.

Example :
Both huge ships you see in the screenshot below are at Max Physical shapes but I was able to complete the red one and not the Star Trek ship because already Max PS with skin only :

We can go over 100 blocks long but keep an eye on the Physical shapes limit for not going over.

To give you an example you can paste in creative mode to see :

"Normal" size for a Warship to have a not bad in-game Perfo that is, in my opinion, already too big for the game.

It comes with 10 Fighters, that can be converted to AI Drones, inside one of its hangars :

One time I built a very large ship (about 800 meters long) and banged against the physical shape limit long before it was completed. I'm done with large ships.

I scrapped that one. Now I can say I attempted to make Nebulon class Frigate from Star wars, but project was just too big.
I started anew and I am slowly in pimping process of making more compact at about 100 block long battleship in steampunk style. It will have 4 huge decks with big bridge on top. It is not my natural style but it came in existance spontaneusly, so i continued with theme. I admit I got constantly lost in this 100 x 50 (more or less) monstrosity and it took time to make corridors more or less logical. LCD places all over the ship do help alot with moving. I will pack whole ship with armament. Whole outer armour apart from bridge is hard armour and on some spots , double hard , spaced armour and combination of light and hard. At moment it had just shy of 50000 PCU, so i think It will be decently "light". I did closed off some spots and I will do that even more as I need to save on weight and PCU. Also I am happy to admit I did not use any mods so far.

I can share the Mods I use on some of my absurdly huge Motherships where the Vanilla Thrusters and Gyros are not able to move my ship because way to heavy.

I forgot to spedify in case you want to try the mods I use when very needed :

For those old Mods, Eezo Gyro and Warp :
Type in the block name in the search box of the G menu to see its icon and be able to add to toolbar.
